Brother Wyn preached a very good lesson this morning, simply outlining what it means to walk by faith. Walking by faith is not an easy way to walk, but it is the way the faithful of old walked, and following the Bible’s teachings and principles that Wyn brings out in this lesson will help us to continue walking by faith and not by sight. Enjoy!

Even with some bumps, we had a great meeting this week. Wyn is always up to the challenge and we very much appreciate his stepping up and preaching three services in a row at a moment’s notice when brother Ron unexpectedly had to cut the meeting short. It is a blessing for our congregation and everyone in the community to have an able preacher working here among us and helping us along as we walk by faith.
Our meeting is over, but we’re still here three times a week and available to study with you any time, come by and meet Wyn and the rest of our gang any Lord’s Day at 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM as well as Wednesdays at 7:00. We had several visitors during the meeting, some who came back for several services, we would love to have you drop by as well, and I sincerely believe you’ll find yourself coming back again too. We’re just an infectious type of crew ;-)
If you enjoy the preaching you’ve seen in these videos, but aren’t in the area, stay tuned and we’ll keep the great gospel content coming!
Yes folks, you read right. Brother Ron was called back home due to an emergency at his home congregation. We certainly hated to see him go when we were getting such excellent sermons, but we understand, appreciate, and support his obligation to take care of things at home first. This left us short a preacher, but luckily for you and I, we found a spare, one Wyn Baker of Wayne, WV. Here it is, just eaten up with edification… Wyn Baker’s digital debut in “Hold Fast the Form of Sound Words” II Timothy 1:12-13. Enjoy!

After services, brother Tony Marshall informed our good brother Baker that he thought he looked like John Hagee in the pulpit!!! While good for comic relief, I don’t think that Wyn took this as a compliment. I have provided a picture of John Hagee, because here at ‘the Blog for today’ we believe in being fair and balanced. We report ,you decide. Leave a comment and let me know what your own independent analysis of this evangelistic body double debate reveals. Have a good Lord’s Day all!
This is the title and text from Ron’s lesson tonight. Ron takes a very basic Bible thought and challenges us to ask ourselves some tough questions and to think very seriously about those places known as Heaven and Hell. So go ahead and ask yourself, “Where is mine affection?” and then watch this sermon. Enjoy!

We received news about brother Junior (Denny) Whitt’s surgery today. The doctors removed a large tumor from his colon but believe the cancer has spread into his lymph nodes. This is a major setback and his doctors are trying to decide the best course of action to take. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. Looking on the optimistic side, brother Junior is a strong and faithful man with many years of service to the Lord at his back, to him, as to the apostle Paul, if it is the Lord’s will for him to live, fine, he’ll live for Christ, but to die… is gain. We’ll keep you updated on his condition as we get the latest.
This is the title and the opening text of Ron’s lesson from Thursday evening. Do you know Jesus? Do you know that you know Jesus? Again, this seems like such a simple topic for each and every soul who has an interest in religion at all, and yet many of us are woefully ignorant about what it means, and how to begin to know Jesus. So take a little time to play the following video and “Get in the know” (thanks Sean and Wyn :-) Enjoy!

Ron preached a first principle type lesson tonight, after all, what comes before learning how to enter the strait gate? First principle it may be, but Ron makes it interesting and looks at it any a way that many of us may not have. Ron’s background also made this subject one that is near and dear to him which is very clear as he preaches this lesson. Click play and stay tuned for a very sincere and thorough look into the closing remarks of the sermon on the mount. Enjoy!

We’re already halfway through the meeting, so hurry out to Garrett’s Creek to hear some fantastic preaching ASAP! 7:30 through Saturday then 10:30 and 3 on the Lord’s Day. We’ll see you there.
Before signing out, let me please ask that you pray for our brother in Christ, Junior Whitt. Junior has a blockage in his heart, weak kidneys, and colon cancer. He had a catheterization earlier this weak and the doctors determined that his heart and kidneys were strong enough to go ahead with the surgery to try and remove the cancer. Bad as he may feel, Junior has been at the meeting anyway and personally stood up to ask for our prayers and let us know the power they have already had in the fact that his heart and kidney function had actually gotten better since his last exam. Junior has been a help and inspiration to many Christians throughout this area and I simply ask that you readers may offer a small prayer for him this day, and remember him Friday as he undergoes surgery.
Praying for God’s healing power and those doctor’s who will be wielding it for Bro. Junior,
This was the title of Ron’s lesson tonight. It was a doozy! My lovely wife quite quotably said that it was ‘edifalicious’. Ron very adeptly explains the prophecy of Revelation chapters 10 and 11 as applying to the gospel, the old and new testaments, the ‘dark age’ of the church, and last but certainly not least, a day when the church, its worship, and the worshipers will be measured with ‘a reed like unto a rod’. This is exactly the type of preaching that brought me to an understanding of the truth seven years ago, when Ron’s preaching prompted me to obey God’s word and be baptized. Revelation is often hard to understand, so I urge you to watch this video where Ron makes it all very simple. Enjoy!

I don’t know what Ron is planning on preaching the rest of the week, but you don’t want to miss it! We had a great crowd tonight with many visitors from the community as well as from sister churches in the area and we urge you to come and join them before this gospel meeting is finished! We’ll see you at 7:30 through Saturday, and 10:30 and 3 on the Lord’s day.
This is a must view! Ron preaches about the establishment of the kingdom in this sermon and very simply boils down the prophecy of Isaiah chapter 2 to show that the things the prophet spoke of were fulfilled in Acts chapter 2 when the church was established. This is a very fundamental thing for us to understand and yet it is a subject that there seems to be very little consensus on in the religious world. After Ron was finished, brother Wyn made some closing announcements and stated that he still remembers Ron preaching about this very topic from when he was a young boy in Missouri and remembers it being very simple and powerful to him even then. It is no different today and I know you will benifit from checking it out. This is a long video, about 45 minutes, so set aside some TV time and get into some good preaching this evening! And as an added bonus, the audio on this lesson is MUCH better than on the first two. Enjoy!

If you have a chance, come to our services tonight as Ron will continue to advance these thoughts into some new testament prophecies concerning the church in the Thessalonian letters and the book of Revelation. If you’re not close by, then tune in tomorrow for another video guaranteed to be chock-full of gospel goodness!
Saturday morning’s service had a whopping 12 speakers! Eleven stepped up to make ‘5 minute talks’ and then an old pro brought up the rear :-) Making five minute talks are ‘young speakers’, that is young at speaking, not necessarily young in years. I always get in on the 5 minute talks, and was happy this year to be joined by a large group of other ‘young speakers’.
I was lucky number one and here it is:
Second is Derrick Guy:
Third is Austin McConnell:
Fourth is Jimmy Dunlap, from St. Albans, WV:
Fifth is Weston Moss:
Sixth is Brian Minter:
Seventh is Craig Marsh:
Eighth is Jerry Woodard:
Ninth is Fred Madison:
Tenth is Paul McKinney:
Eleventh is Matthew Tison:
and finally is good ‘ol Phillip Scott from Bandy, KY:
Take your time and listen up! If I made mistakes in any of the names, please let me know. Enjoy!
[Note: All of the players have my name on them when you hit play… I’m not sure why that is, but the sound files match the names I have listed. I’ll try and fix it when I get the time…]
Friday night we had four speakers, however my recorder shut-off halfway through so I am missing the sermons from Michael Conley and Don Jackson. If anyone else has these sermons, please get them to me! Here are the two I do have.
First up is Anthony Brockett of Indianapolis, IN:
And second is Phillip Patton from Jasper, TN:
Enjoy these two excellent sermons. I will catch up with yesterday’s services as soon as I can, there were several speakers and its taking me awhile to get them all sorted out! Check back soon and have a great start to 2007!
