Saturday morning’s service had a whopping 12 speakers! Eleven stepped up to make ‘5 minute talks’ and then an old pro brought up the rear :-) Making five minute talks are ‘young speakers’, that is young at speaking, not necessarily young in years. I always get in on the 5 minute talks, and was happy this year to be joined by a large group of other ‘young speakers’.
I was lucky number one and here it is:
Second is Derrick Guy:
Third is Austin McConnell:
Fourth is Jimmy Dunlap, from St. Albans, WV:
Fifth is Weston Moss:
Sixth is Brian Minter:
Seventh is Craig Marsh:
Eighth is Jerry Woodard:
Ninth is Fred Madison:
Tenth is Paul McKinney:
Eleventh is Matthew Tison:
and finally is good ‘ol Phillip Scott from Bandy, KY:
Take your time and listen up! If I made mistakes in any of the names, please let me know. Enjoy!
[Note: All of the players have my name on them when you hit play… I’m not sure why that is, but the sound files match the names I have listed. I’ll try and fix it when I get the time…]
Friday night we had four speakers, however my recorder shut-off halfway through so I am missing the sermons from Michael Conley and Don Jackson. If anyone else has these sermons, please get them to me! Here are the two I do have.
First up is Anthony Brockett of Indianapolis, IN:
And second is Phillip Patton from Jasper, TN:
Enjoy these two excellent sermons. I will catch up with yesterday’s services as soon as I can, there were several speakers and its taking me awhile to get them all sorted out! Check back soon and have a great start to 2007!
Another good service with two distinguished preachers speaking. The first is Don Snow of Henry County, GA who preached about those things that make for a strong and faithful church, a needful topic indeed! Take a listen:
The second speaker was Bro. Sean McAllister from St. Albans, WV. He did WV proud this morning! His thoughts were focused on the fact that the Gospel of Christ is a positive message and even so called ‘negative preaching’ or rebuking by the gospel is done only to bring about positive change. Very good thoughts and I share them with you now, enjoy!
Me and the fam had lunch with Sean and his ‘groupies’ :-) from St. Albans after services at, where else? McAlister’s Deli. It was good too, here’s the proof:
Another good service with lots of new faces in attendance. There were two speakers tonight, Rick Martin of Marietta, GA and Bruce Roebuck of Hugo, OK. Both had excellent thoughts to present.Bro. Rick spoke of ‘Strange Lands’ in which Christians often find themselves. He had some very well spoken points about the strange land of casualness, take a listen:
Bro. Bruce preached about David and Goliath, and managed to make this oft preached on story interesting all over again. His points were well made and fell right in with the theme of the meeting, “The battle is not yours but God’s.” Listen in, I’m sure you’ll be edified:
Stay tuned for more blogcasts of the meeting, as well as some pictures.
Here is the sermon preached by Bro. Ronny Wade last night (12/27/06) at the first service of the ‘06 Alabama New Year’s Meeting in Dothan, AL. The quality is not the best but it is good enough to hear and understand. I’ll try and get the recorder positioned a little better tonight. I hope you enjoy the sermon, Ronny preached on several points concerning what makes the Bible such an extraordinary book. Enjoy!
So we took the long way to the New Year’s Meeting in Dothan, AL by spending a day in Jacksonville first. We had a great time. The kids were absolutely great considering we travelled for about 14 hours on Monday! The portable DVD player may be the single greatest travelling-with-kidlets tool ever invented! We got to Jacksonville at about 11:00 PM Monday night and checked into our hotel. The reason I wanted to go to Jacksonville is because that is where my great grandma (Mommaw Payne) lived when I was a kid. The hotel we stayed at sits right on the spot where Mommaw Payne’s house used to be, so it was very special to me to spend the night in that place, (and the story got me a discount from the gentleman at the front desk too :-) Read on for more vacationy goodness –>
My fam, my laptop, and my new toy, which should allow me to put up blogcasts of all the preaching I hear at the Alabama new year’s meeting. So I’ll be silent for a couple of travelling days (we’re going to go to Alabama via Jacksonville, FL so we can go to the zoo, but mostly so we can eat at the best seafood restaurant in the known world, I’ll post pictures :), and then you’ll be in for some excellent preaching in the comfort of your own computer chair. I hope you’ll tune in and enjoy!
Praying for the safe travel of all my brethren going to and fro this week,
I know you may be thinking as you read the title, “Well here we go again….Are we going to have to hear or read about this Christmas dribble again? If that’s what you are thinking I suppose the answer to your question would be …YES! I heard a preacher one time tell of a lady who griped every time he would preach on the subject of the sin of women cutting their hair, and his response to her was quite convincing. Every time she griped at him about it he would respond by saying, “Well sister if you and these others around here would stop cutting your hair I wouldn’t have to preach about it all the time!” Same answer I believe applies to the ridicule directed toward preachers or teachers who openly speak out against the observance of the Christmas holiday. If the brethren would change their practice, we would NOT have to preach and teach on it, but we could focus on other needed subjects. However, once again the season is upon us, and the need is here so here we go looking once again as to what Christian people need to know about religious holiday known as Christmas. Read on –>
I found this news story about some ‘holiday’ traditions in a small region of spain and simply had to share with my blogites. You’ve got to click this link:
HA! A log that poops out presents, thats a much keener idea than ol’ Saint Nick if you ask me. I mean, if we’re gonna make up a holiday and all its trappings, why not pick a cooler icon than one that promotes overt commercialism, slave labor, animal cruelty and morbid obesity? I predict that once news of this Catalonia tradition gets out, Santa will be ‘wiped’ out. I think I’ll get to baking some of those ’sweets shaped like feces’ to hand out at church this Sunday, I’m sure I could ‘dump’ them off on someone. Well, I just had to share and get that ‘load’ off my mind.
In related news, I was shocked on this first-day-of-winter-eve to find evidence on my porch that a snowman had visited already:
Some clever soul put this video clip together and it is a blast! A word to the weak of heart, the video is set to some very loud heavy metal music, that I normally wouldn’t insert into this blog, but I’ve made an exception in order to make fun of Benny Hinn.
For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. (Matthew 24:24) [emphasis mine]
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (II Thess. 2:9-12) [emphasis mine]
How pitiful that even when supplied with the above scriptures and more, folks still believe that the things seen in the following video are from God. If you’re not faint of heart, continue on and watch this disturbing (yet funny) video –>
